How To Stop Your Child From Screaming In The Car Seat
It is moments like this that make you want to just leap out of the car. It is bad enough that you are running behind for your appointment and fighting traffic. Now your boy is yelling like they are being murdered and you have had more then you can take. Is there anything you can do?
If you have ever been been in this situation you can understand with those that deal with this challenge. Sometimes these occurrences are occasional but for some young ones this happens every time they are put in their safety seat .
While lots of people will offer their ideas as to why your kid is crying the bottom line is they are not enjoying their car seat experience. Some people say it is the cold or heat, or maybe the vibrations the seat makes. Others talk about how it might be the tightness or that they just plain feel trapped.
How excited would you be to get strapped down into a seat that is hot or cold depending on the weather? Would you just look up with a great big smile at whoever was strapping you in?
No matter what you need things to be different. You can definitely try anther car seat. You might consider this a bit much but how much to like the screaming? Here is another idea that you might try. Pick a treat that your child likes and decide to only give it to them when they are in the car seat. You want results to start with something simple and yes it might be 15 seconds of quite if that is where you are at.
You will not tell them what the behavior is you will simply reward it when you see it. Give them the treat and some praise; you will get results if you are consistent. Positive reinforcement like this will work much better then a negative punishment approach.
While this might seem like a rather easy solution if it works, which it does, do not knock it. This technique will produce results as long as you are not facing with a real physical discomfort.
